MUSTANG
MARCHING BAND
The Mustang Marching Band is
an extra curricular activity. It is open to Norwood Public Schools
Students in grades 8-12. It is highly recommended that all marching band
students attend Music Camp.
The Marching Band performs at
MICCA and NESBA events in the fall season. The band also marches in
the Veterans
Day, Norwood Day, Memorial Day, and Holiday parade as well as performing
pep music @ some
football games.

NHS Mustang Marching Band Takes
10th place out of 25 Bands
in Division III
Norwood Marching Band
Takes 10th Place in National Competition
On a beautiful sunny fall Sunday at 12:24pm,
the Norwood High School Mustang Marching Band took the field at the Navy-Marine
Corps stadium in Annapolis, Maryland to participate in the USSBA National
Championship marching band competition. Going on 7th in a field of
25 bands competing in Division III, the band, led by drum majors Patrick Maroun
and Courtney Schick, gave a spectacular performance of its 2010 show Reflections
of the Blue Frontier by Frank Sullivan and Kevin Ford. Later in the day, the
band was awarded the 10th place trophy to the cheers of the audience
and Norwood families in attendance. This was the band’s first national
competition and it capped a tremendous season in which the band again won a Gold
medal in MICCA and NESBA competitions. The NHS Mustang Marching Band is under
the direction of Mr. Steven Conant, and is comprised of 54 students from both
Norwood High School and the Coakley Middle School. The band thanks the citizens
and businesses of Norwood and the Norwood Parents Music Association for its
generous donations to offset the costs associated with the trip to Annapolis.
The marching band could not have been successful this season without the help
of: Mercer Corporation for the use of its parking lot for all rehearsals August
to November, the Elks Lodge #622 of Annapolis MD, and the AT&T Corporation for
the use of its parking lot for rehearsal in Annapolis. Don’t miss your last
opportunity to see the band perform on Thanksgiving Day at the football game at
the Coakley Middle School.

Marching Band and Color Guard Uniforms
All Marching Band Students must have their uniforms dry cleaned at Lustre Cleaners.
They need to be returned to the high school anytime after 2:30 pm in the afternoon and placed on their racks in the uniform room. Mr. Conant is usually there most afternoons and he can unlock the room.
• They must be returned in their garment bags with the dry cleaning bag and slip attached and with the original uniform hanger in the garment bag as well.
• Marching band shoes must be returned and placed in shoe boxes.
• All students are responsible for all items issued to them (uniform, shoes, gloves).
All Color Guard must have uniforms laundered.
• Your uniforms can be hand washed or gently machine washed and dried on a low heat cycle.
• Yours must be returned in your garment bags as well with all accessories (leotards, suspenders, etc.).

specific details.
